I posted about this incident Friday on Facebook. I’m going to provide some additional links below, because I would ask all Texans, all Americans, to mediate on what this all means. Somebody in San Marcos, Texas is posting threatening messages on Kamala Harris signs, claiming to be from the KKK. It’s pure voter intimidation, but it’s the kind of thing Donald Trump gives permission for.

Immediately after posting, I got pushback from friends,

“Is this confirmed?”

And I understood what they meant. Social media is a dangerous platfrom that can spread lies and disinformation like no other platform I know. But, yes, it’s now confirmed by police that this DID happen in the San Marcos area…both before Friday when I posted….

And as you see, according to police, it continued over the weekend. According to KXAN News:

“The San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) said Saturday it’s investigating threatening flyers found throughout San Marcos that target supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a social media post.

SMPD chief Stan Standridge said his department has found at least five flyers, with reports about the flyers starting on Friday.”

Who is doing it? Are they actually White Supremacist KKK members?
That is apparently not known.

But I will repeat here, and expand on my point of Friday. Don’t get caught down the rabbit hole of who this specific person was. This happened, and it’s verified. And there’s plenty MORE that was already well verified before this happened.

Not all Republicans are KKK members…
But all KKK members are on Team Trump.

Trump has “morally licensed” the most vile forms of racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia…ever since he rode down that escalator in 2016. I have written extensively on “moral licensing” since 2016. Please find much on it here: “More On Moral Licensing.”

But! If you are a voter who still supports him because you think “Well, he’ll have good folks around him…”
Think again…

And here are examples of Trump using the same language Hitler used.

Please know that many of the “guard rail” staff that protected American Democracy *last time* will not be with him now. Here are just some of the former colleagues…his own strff…who urge you to vote against him, including many in the militaty.

There is a Biblical sin called “hubris,” or pride that makes us believe we can control things we cannot control.

You, as a voter, cannot control what Trump will do.
You, as a voter, cannot insure there will be “guardrails” this time.

Again, if you think you can, you are deluding yourself…and I will again post comments below from many former “Team Trump” member who have repented of their hubris and realize the real threat he is.

Donald Trump really is, as General Milley says, “facist to the core.”

That doesn’t mean YOU are…but it does mean HE is. Here are more specifics from General John Kelley.

And it is hubris to believe you, those around him, or anyone else, can control him this time. This is the sin that JD Vance is committing, right now.

And it means: He will unleash all manner of Fascist people…give them permission…to freely espouse their values, to harm everyone except those who support HIM, not support our Constitution. I know many of you don’t believe this. But that is the real danger. The real danger in our country, right now, is among voters who don’t believe Donald Trump. If you are one of them, please read this.

And if you don’t believe the way I frame it, perhaps you’ll believe the New York Times which sums the dangers up, perfectly.

It is only mildly important who actually put out this sign in San Marcos…because it is already demonstrably true that the KKK and other White Supremacists really really want Trump elected.

I have said for months that democracy itself is on the ballot this Fall. The media, and all of us as pundits, do us a diservice at this point to focus on anything expect the threat to American Democracy itself.

If you believe yourself to be a non-White Supremacists Trump voter: I beg you pay attention to all the links in this post.
Trump really is fascist to the core.
He really is giving permission to White Supremacy.
And you really do have the chance to stop it.
